1. Our club is friendly and relaxed and everyone is equal regardless of age, ability, gender, race, or sexuality. Bullying, belittling, abuse or discrimination will not be tolerated, and will result in appropriate action. This could include dismissal from the session, belt demotion or expulsion (including total grade stripping) in extreme cases. Always respect yourself and others, be patience and help others in, and out of the Dojo.

2. All students should make maximum effort to attend their regular session every week and work enthusiastically to improve and achieve goals. We believe that dipping in and out of training results in little progression.

3. Students must not use or teach any technique taught in our classes, outside of the dojo - unless used appropriately in self defence or for protection of others.

4. Sessions will start on time, students will be punctual and not leave early.

5. Everyone is responsible for keeping the Dojo tidy, clean and safe, respecting our equipment and reporting any spillages, trip hazards or accidents of any kind immediately to the highest rank in class. Drinking bottles are to be kept to the edge of the training area.

6. Students must not chew gum and must remove all jewellery to reduce risk of injury to themselves and others, or damage to our equipment.

7. Mobile phones must not be used in class.

8. Uniform must be clean and ironed, and fingernails and toenails kept short. Students grading to Red belt and above must wear full uniform at all times - no non-uniform or fashion items, no shorts at any time. All students who have a belt must wear it in class. Beginners and White belts to wear appropriate exercise gear, no shorts or fashion items.

9. Protective gear to be worn when instructed. Students may borrow Club gear or should buy their own with our advice first please (some equipment may be unsuitable for our discipline and offer insufficient protection).

10. ‘Missed sessions’ must be used up within the month or will be lost, but students are welcome to attend any suitable classes to make up time.

11. One month's notice must be given before cancelling any direct debit. We reserve the right to charge any fees due before the 28 days ends, giving us time to cancel with third parties.

12. Membership is for life, assuming regular training, but due to administration fees required of us by MAGB, our licencing company, students cancelling membership, then returning within 6 months will be required to pay a £30 re- set up fee.

13. Students will be invited to grade if they train each week without unreasonable absences, consistently work hard, showing the correct level of competence for that grade, good attitude, personal improvement and if they feel happy and ready to do so.

14. Students always require water in class and so must bring this with them. We do keep bottles of water but we need to fund this, so it is not free. All water will be charged as £1 to direct debit fees accounts.

15.  Licence books (Black/orange MAGB) are a legal document and must be completed with photo, details and signature. This should be handed in for updating at the time of annual renewal, and also with grading test forms and fees at the time of grading. No student can be permitted to train without a valid licence and insurance.

We are all here to enjoy ourselves (including the instructors!)

For safety, ALL beginners, regardless of previous experience elsewhere, and white belts, are restricted to shadow sparring and ‘touch’ or ‘light’ contact sparring only (without gloves) until we have had time to assess their ability and personality, and coach them properly– no exceptions.

Any students who insist on ‘proving themselves’ during sparring, by way of excessive force , violence or ‘showing off’ will be deemed unfit for sparring until they have shown improvement- or will be dealt with accordingly. It is important to understand that we do not want injuries, especially due to students who mess about, or who cannot - or will not - control themselves.

Please be kind and friendly, and welcome everyone to our community.
